There are many types of magnets you can use on the market. There are various types of adhesives that you can use with any kind of magnets.
Which adhesive is better to use for which magnet? What are the differences between adhesives? In this article, we tried to answer the questions.
Before we talk about adhesives, let’s point out that there are also self-adhesive flexible magnets. However, self-adhesive magnets will not be as strong as the adhesives used, and they are easily bendable. Therefore, if you prefer to use this type of magnet, we recommend using it for light materials.
One of the magnet types you can use are ferrite magnets. Ferrite magnets are also known as ceramic magnets. Many magnet manufacturers have abandoned the production of ferrite magnets, as these magnets cannot reach the power to satisfy users. Many magnet manufacturers prefer to produce magnetized ferrites, known as the much stronger c8, instead of normal ferrite magnets.
Ferrite magnets are versatile and you can use them with almost any adhesive you want. There are usually informative sections on the magnets that indicate which glue will work best. Ferrite magnets are usually produced with ceramics. Therefore, it can be said that it is possible to use any adhesive you can use with ceramic for ferrite magnets. The most important thing to note is that the material you will use while applying the adhesive is compatible with the adhesive you use.
Right Adhesive, Right Magnet
You have adhesive options such as two-part epoxy resins or super adhesives. You can use the most suitable glue for you.
But what if the magnet you have is Neodymium magnet, then what kind of adhesives can you use? Neodymium magnets are the most powerful magnets you can use. And they can be produced very thinly. Neodymium magnets may look like solid metal, but are made from sintered powder. Therefore, they are extremely fragile. Most Neodymium magnets, especially thin ones, are self-adhesive. If you want to use an external adhesive, you should choose a type of adhesive that works on metal.
You can use two-piece epoxy resin or cyano-acrylic super glue in neodymium magnets or other metal magnets. Contact adhesive or super glue is one of the most preferred adhesive options. Epoxy resin is not preferred as much as it is thought.
